Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast Fund Raiser will be help Sunday Mar. 23rd from 8am-1pm at St. Joseph’s Parish Great Hall. Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Link Sausage, Coffee & Orange Juice will be served for $ 5 dollars for adults, Kids 12 and under eat for $3 dollars.
Ark River Emergency Medical Service, formally Arkansas Valley Ambulance, will host an open house at noon Mar. 25th at their headquarters on US 50 in Texas Creek. During the open house, the public will be able to tour the ambulances, meet the ambulance crews and learn about emergency medical response. A raffle will take place for a 2 ½ acre lot in the Copper Gulch area. Money raised will support the nonprofit service. Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County will be held Saturday March 29th at 6pm at St Joseph’s School. Save the date for Mad Style. Heart of the Rockies Chess Club President, Howard Grant, has announced that the group will meet Fridays at the Frist Christian Church at 302 E. 4 from 1-5pm. Visiting chess players and beginners are welcome to come. Persons interested in being in the Chess Club may call Howard at 539-7686.
Fibark Whitewater Festival presented by Eddyline Brewing are making plans for the annual summer festival. Celebrating it’s 66th Year, FIBArk will be June 12-15th. Booster Club for the Arts presents The Stardust Dinner Theater Fundraiser. Live performances accompanied with a 3 course dinner will be held Friday Apr. 4th at the Salida High School Auditorium from 6-8pm. Proceeds benefit the booster club for the arts who supports the Performing and visual arts programs in the Salida School District through grants and scholarships opportunities for educators and students. Tickets are available at the door or contact the school offices.

Stream Explorers 2014, taught by Collegiate Peaks Anglers chapter of Trout Unlimited will be presented to Middle School Students in Grade 6-8 for Four Fridays April 18 and 25th and May 2 & 9th from 9 to noon. Colorado You Got Talent will be in Chaffee County on Sunday Apr. 13 from 2-6pm at the Salida Dance Studio. Colorado’s Largest Talent Contest is coming back to Chaffee County to audition the best youth and adults to compete in this years State Regional finals. All age and talents are welcome. Salida Spartan Athletic Booster Club invites you to hear internationally renowned speaker Greg Riddoch a three year starter at Northern Colorado, Greg earned All Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors three times, was a two time All Region Selection, and earned Division All American Status in 1967. And played pro baseball and eventually becoming a coach. He has MANY Sports accolades so come hear him speak Sunday April 13 at 2pm at the SHS Auditorium. Sangre De Cristo Electric is now collecting spent residential compact fluorescent light bulbs at their headquarters located at 29780 N. US Highway 24 in Buena Vista. Through a program offered by their power supplier, Tri-State Generation & Transmission, they will ship the unbroken bulbs for recycling. The mercury, glass, and metals in the ballast are all recycled. Bring your bulbs to our headquarters and they’ll do the rest.
Remember there’s now round-trip bus service EVERYDAY to Denver, DIA, Buena Vista, Alamosa, Canon City, Pueblo and Gunnison, leaving The Chaffee Transit Center at 54 Jones Avenue, behind Wallbangers.
